The Human Rights and Law Unit (HRLU) for the past many years have been involved in the protection and promotion of Human Rights through advocacy research, publication and capacity building programs. Specifically, the Unit regularly organizes Human Rights and Law education workshops mainly for NGOs, university students and others. Besides the workshops, the Unit carries out advocacy programs like writing petitions to concerned governmental and non governmental entities which are able to protect the Rights of citizens. Legal counseling especially to the poor and the marginalized is another area of continuing engagement. The HRLU  news bulletin gets Human Rights related news daily via email to several thousand people. Besides the above, the Unit networks with several like minded organizations across India trying to protect and promote the Rights of the people especially those living in the margins of society
